BALAVIL
Mr and Mrs Alan Macpherson-Fletcher, Balavil, Kingussie, Inverness-shire

Balavil was built by James "Ossian" Macpherson in 1790 and has remained in the family ever since. Alan and Marjory are terrific hosts and guests are encouraged to treat Balavil as their own home, so as to relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the lovely Highland setting in an atmosphere of comfortable elegance. Strathspey is renowned for its majestic hills, crystal clear rivers and the exceptional beauty of the surrounding countryside. This is a sportsman's paradise with red deer stalking, grouse shooting, rough shooting and salmon fishing all available on the estate. Balavil is very accessible being only half an hour from Inverness and its airport.

Balavil House

Accommodation for 6 to 20
Four Double bedrooms and six Twin bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. Superb galleried saloon festooned with stags heads, lovely Drawing Room, Morning Room and huge Dining Room, which can seat 30.

Golf:
Nairn, Lossiemouth (Old & New Moray), Grantown-on-Spey, and perhaps Scotland's most enjoyable inland course at Boat of Garten. It is certainly a supreme test of accurate golf as there is an individual setting for each hole which are often cut through birch wood or on moorland terrain. The course more than often echoes with the sound of golf balls clattering amongst the trees, but for all that it is a very beautiful course to play.
